This self-starter will be responsible for managing, tracking and resolving a portfolio of third-party liability and workers’ compensation accounts from start to finish.  Responsibilities include contacting the responsible party, insurance carrier and/or attorney to identify sources of payment, and identifying and filing liens to protect account balances.   


Strong analytical skills are needed to research sources of information to resolve accounts and to recommend a course of action that most cost-effectively resolves the outstanding account balance.  The applicant should display a positive and proactive attitude, strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and multitask and be a strong communicator with demonstrated verbal and written communications skills.


Excellent opportunity for paralegals with medical liability experience, insurance claims adjusters or healthcare billing professionals with prior experience filing liens.  Candidates must demonstrate ability in building rapport with attorneys, negotiating settlements and maintaining adherence to healthcare regulations.


  • Responsibility includes:
    • Contacting the responsible party/attorney to identify sources of payment
    • Identifying unresolved patient responsibility accounts that qualify for legal referral to resolve account balances.  
  • Strong analytical skills are needed to research sources of information to resolve accounts and to recommend a course of action that most cost-effectively resolves the outstanding account balanceDemonstrated verbal and written communications skills are required.


  • Minimum high school degree or equivalent is required with college degree preferred
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a third-party collection, billing or collection environment, ideally in healthcare
  • Prior third-party liability account management experienced preferred, with previous experience resolving motor vehicle accident claims and worker’s compensation claims with insurers and attorneys
  • Paralegal or legal assistant experience helpful, but not required
  • Credit / Background checks will be performed and candidates must have acceptable results
  • Soft skills include but are not limited to ability to analyze and resolve problems related to incoming calls and correspondence, active listening skills, strong analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent time management and organizational skills, and ability to complete required tasks within established time frames
  • Typing proficiency of approximately 30 WPM is preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required
