Establishes and maintains professional relationships with assigned Charge Description Master (CDM) customers by providing quality support of chargemaster maintenance, requests for change and billing inquiries. Participates in various consulting engagements related to outpatient revenue cycle, including CDM compliance reviews, charge capture assessments, and outpatient coding, billing, and documentation audits.

  • Achieves targeted utilization
  • Ability to read, research, analyze, interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations
  • Demonstrated success in leading projects (a successful project is defined as one that is performed in accordance to contract terms, provides a quality deliverable and meets or exceeds client expectations)
  • Understanding of data relationships and the effect of modifications in the revenue cycle
  • Familiarity with all aspects of the hospital outpatient revenue cycle and various reimbursement models, billing compliance guidelines, and local directives
  • Remotely manages daily and quarterly updates to assigned customers CDMs, based on the most current regulatory guidanceRegistered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS); Certified Coding Associate (CCA)
  • Knowledge of new industry trends and regulations
  • Ability to train and mentor staff
  • Familiarity with various hospital charge structures
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of professionals and personalities in a team environment
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Outlook


  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working with or managing the hospital Charge Description Master (CDM)
  • 3+ years related work experience
  • 1+ years of CDM Consultant experience
  • Possession of one or more of the following credentials:
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC); Certified Outpatient Coder (COC)
  • Registered Nurse (RN)

Preferred Skills

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience working with or managing clinic and physician Charge Description Master (CDM)
  • Familiarity with Epic and Cerner patient accounting systems
  • 2+ years recent coding experience in acute care setting preferred
  • Clinical experience in areas of the Pharmacy, Materials Management, Laboratory, Nursing or other clinical areas
  • Knowledge of nThrive products or products and services of competitors preferred
