Overview

The Eligibility Specialist, Service Center (Bilingual) works in one of our nThrive service center locations and handles incoming calls to help identify financial support options, and assist with the application process, for uninsured or underinsured patients. Financial support options can include Medicare, Medicaid, Disability, or Charity programs.

Responsibilities

  • Handles a high volume of inbound calls from patients that need to be screened financially and medically for healthcare financial support. 
  • Through the use of the company eligibility tool, determines patient eligibility for financial support.
  • Conducts the appropriate application support that should be provided based upon state regulations. Facilitates the application process or directs the patient to the appropriate next step.
  • Acts as an advocate for the patient, but also serves as a liaison to other colleagues, client hospital personnel, and government agency staff in a collaborative effort to facilitate eligibility coverage for incurred medical expenses.
  • Provides superior customer service and maintains a professional image.
  • Meets or exceed performance objectives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish.
  • At six months of experience in a call center environment, or federal or state government agency that deals with social security, Medicaid or charity care, or healthcare accounts receivable or similar role within the healthcare revenue cycle touching patient accounts.
  • At least six months of experience working in a role with a high volume of either inbound or outbound calls through an automatic dialer.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with a customer and simplifying complex information.
  • Experience in a role that requires accessing multiple databases simultaneously or managing multiple open screens to gather information to discuss with a customer.
  • Experience with customer interactions that require live, accurate documentation of the encounter.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain HIPAA compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet performance objectives.
  • Ability to type at least 40 wpm.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background and drug screen.
  • Available to work a shift between the hours of 8:30 ET and 7:00PM ET.
