  • Overview

    This individual manages segments of the health information management function/department and manages staff while ensuring high quality, cost effective, customer-focused service.  

    Responsibilities

    • Manages the staff and segments of the operation and ensures all job responsibilities are covered in absence of other staff.
    • Contributions to  monitoring client deliverables, exception reports and contractual obligations on a consistent basis.
    • Supports with preparation of regular operational and client reports.
    • Synchronizes work distribution for designated shift activities.
    • Coordinates timely completion of requests for records or information.
    • CoordinatesExpedites filing of records to ensure completion on a daily basis.
    • Formulates monthly work schedules with management.
    • Assists with staff education and training when needs are identified.
    • Safeguards compliance with state and JCHAO regulations and keeps abreast of new legislation and regulations that affect HIM.
    • Accountable for maintaining strict physician and patient confidentiality and follows state, federal and hospital guidelines for the release of information.
    • Maintenance of nThrive's Compliance Program by  adhering to all relevant compliance policies and procedures as evidenced by in-service attendance and daily practice; notifying management when  a compliance concern or incident arises; demonstrating knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations evidenced by appropriate handling of patient information; promoting confidentiality and using discretion when handling patient information.
    • Supports nThrive’s Compliance Program by adhering to policies and procedures pertaining to HIPAA, FDCPA, FCRA, and other laws applicable to nThrive’s business practices. This includes: becoming familiar with nThrive’s Code of Ethics, attending training as required, notifying management or nThrive’s Helpline when there is a compliance concern or incident, HIPAA-compliant handling of patient information, and demonstrable awareness of confidentiality obligations.

    Qualifications

    • RHIA or RHIT and Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management or related field.
    •  5+ years of health information management experience. 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to work with physicians and staff to implement positive/effective change.
    • Knowledge of computer technology and automated system designs for HIM.
    •  Customer-oriented management style. Computer knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
