  • Overview

    Payment Research and Posting Specialist position is responsible for completing daily account-related functions in an efficient and timely manner.

    Duties include researching and reconciling accounts, completing daily deposits, posting, researching credit balances, communicating with clients, operating a variety of client systems, having knowledge of regulatory bodies, understanding collections terminology, using critical thinking skills and adhering to compliance protocols.  Work requires a general understanding of accounting, specific client preferences, the unit's organization, program functions and knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.  Performs other related duties as necessary.


    • Create, distribute, maintain, and file various accounting reports.
    • Identify charges for proper application of funds.
    • Post payments and adjustments from various healthcare operating systems.
    • Perform daily deposit and balancing.
    • Analyze and interpret accounting documents requiring great attention to detail.
    • Research, resolve and reconcile accounts while utilizing various medical billing systems.
    • Identify trends, determine root cause for discrepancies and provide feedback to leadership.
    • Review credit balance accounts for reallocation of  funds or refund.
    • Interact with client and internal departments to ensure proper account handling.
    • Perform routine tasks or repetitious tasks with care and attention.
    • Respond to incoming client requests and handle in a prompt, courteous and professional manner.
    • Complete or assist with time-sensitive reconciliation reports, exception reports and projects.
    • Perform file maintenance for corrections and additions to patient records.
    • Constantly evaluate processes to maximize efficiency and reduce cost.
    • Coordinate and lead special projects as requested.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism at all times and work in a cooperative manner with managers,   supervisors, co-workers, customers and the public.
    • Understand and abide by the corporate policies and procedures, employee handbook, and the harassment and drug-free workplace policies.
    • Maintain regular and predictable attendance in accordance with the company’s policy.
    • Complete all assigned task in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness.
    • Other duties as assigned or requested by Supervisory or Managerial personnel such as acting as back up in other departments and training of other representatives.
    • Ensure HIPAA, FDCPA and FCRA compliance.


    • Working knowledge of medical operating systems such as Epic, Meditech, Paragon etc.
    • Soft skills including but not limited to: ability to analyze and resolve problems; active listening skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to complete required tasks within established time frames.
    • Basic accounting and medical terminology required.
    • Excellent data entry and 10 key skills; Typing proficiency of minimum 50 WPM required.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel required.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, associates and management.
    • Skill in exercising initiative, judgment and decision-making to achieve department objectives.
